Qur’an 2:52 - Did Allah forgive worshiping of the calf?

There are different answers to this question in the Qur’an:

Allah has forgiven the calf idol worship - Qur’an 2:52

“And remember We appointed forty nights for Moses, and in his absence ye took the calf (for worship), and ye did grievous wrong. Even then We did forgive you; there was a chance for you to be grateful.” (Qur’an 2:51-52) “The people of the Book ask thee to cause a book to descend to them from heaven: Indeed they asked Moses for an even greater (miracle), for they said: "Show us Allah in public," but they were dazed for their presumption, with thunder and lightning. Yet they worshipped the calf even after clear signs had come to them; even so we forgave them; and gave Moses manifest proofs of authority.” (Qur’an 4:153)

Allah has not forgiven the calf idol worship - Qur’an 2:63, 7:152

“Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed.” (Qur’an 4:48) Also Qur’an 4:116. “Those who took the calf (for worship) will indeed be overwhelmed with wrath from their Lord, and with shame in this life: thus do We recompense those who invent (falsehoods).” (Qur’an 7:152) “Indeed, those who took the calf [for worship] will obtain anger from their Lord and humiliation in the life of this world, and thus do We recompense the inventors [of falsehood].” (Qur’an 7:152). See also Qur’an 2:63. The idol worshipers were terrorized by Allah, because the Mount Sinai was raised above the idol worshiping people.

There is a difficulty in the Qur’an about the question that the calf idol worship has been forgiven. One verse is telling us that Allah has forgiven the calf idol worship, while according to another verse, the people were not forgiven. Therefore the verses are a contradiction in the Qur’an.
