Qur’an 7:83 - Did Allah save the wife of Lot or not?

There are different answers to this question:

The wife of Lot was saved - Qur’an 26:170-171

“So We saved him and his family, all, except an old woman among those who remained behind.” (Qur’an 26:170-171) Allah saved Lot and all his followers except an old woman. Note that the “old woman” is not the wife of Lot. It is not correct to call the righteous man’s wife "an old woman". It should have been "the wife of Lot".

The wife of Lot was not saved - Qur’an 7:83

“So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained [with the evildoers].” (Qur’an 7:83) Allah didn’t save Lot’s wife.

There is a difficulty in the Qur’an about the question that Allah saved Lot’s wife or not. One verse is telling us that Allah saved her, while according to another verse, Allah didn’t save her. Therefore the verses are a contradiction in the Qur’an.
