For Christians

Christian Mission

It is the Christian mission is to make Jesus Christ known to those who do not know him, whether they live far away or just close to you. There are many opportunities for Christian mission in our daily life. As a believer and sharing the Gospel, you will have the constant presence of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age

What Christ and what, therefore, Christian mission hold in trust is profoundly meaningful to the whole life, aspiration, and humanity of the Muslim world.[14] However, many people do not know how to share the Gospel to Muslims or are afraid to do it. On these pages some guidelines of how to do it.

Your relation with Jesus Christ

To be confronted with another religion can be a hard experience. God created human beings with a free will. People can only be touched by God to find the truth. So, you may ask yourself: how is my relation with Jesus Christ? You will need an open heart for God’s Spirit. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you (John 16:13-14). Also your lifestyle is important. With a genuine Christian life, Muslims will see the change God has made in your own life. Furthermore, you not only have to pray about yourself, but also for the Muslims, who God wants to bring to your attention. It can be known people, but also unknown. Pray for wisdom in how you can approach them in an effective way.If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him (James 1:5).

Your active attitude

One of the bottlenecks nowadays with sharing the Gospel to Muslims is that we are not active enough to visit our Muslim friends to share the Gospel. It is when we are not so comfortable with the world that we more proclaim the kingdom of our Lord. When Christians are prepared to do things for the gospel Jesus has called us to proclaim, many Muslims will be reached today.[15] And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:15). It is good to make a commitment with yourself or with others, to be there where Muslims are and to start a conversation with them.

Tell Muslims about Jesus

Now we come to the point that we start a conversation with a Muslim to share the Gospel. Every person is different and there are also differences in the environment. Therefore every conversation is unique. To give you an impression how a conversation may go, here are the following questions and answers:

1. Are you aware of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Most Muslims will say: ʽI am a Muslim’. With this sentence they want to express that they come from a Muslim family and that the Gospel is not for them.[7] After this first contact, you may now focus to the most essential question of every human being:

2. Are you sure you are going to Paradise when you die?
Most Muslims will say that they are not sure that they are going to Paradise. They will add that nobody knows he or she is sure about going to Paradise. Therefore you may ask the next question:

3. Did you ever say something that is not true or take away something that is not yours?
Most Muslims friends will admit they have committed mistakes, in case they do not, you may ask them if they made mistakes in not obeying one of the other commandments. Finally they will admit they made at least one mistake.[12]

4. Do you want to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?
When our Muslim friend doesn’t know about Christian faith, you may tell your story how you found your relation with Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. You may conclude with the question: ʽWhat do you think about it?’ It is the free will of everyone to say he or she wants to accept Jesus Christ as personal Savior. Most Muslims will say: ʽNo’. Some of them are polite by saying they will think about it. However, there are Muslims accepting Jesus Christ and there are more and more every year.

5. Pray the sinner’s prayer
Now we come to the final point that the Holy Ghost will lead our Muslim friend to Jesus Christ. You ask your friend to pray with you the sinner’s prayer. For an example, see page Come to Jesus.

6. Bring them to a church
After being converted to Jesus Christ, our friends need a discipleship making church according to Biblical guidelines. Give glory to God: However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven (Luke 10:20).
