Qur’an 2:52 - Did Allah forgive worshiping of the calf?

There are different answers to this question in the Qur’an:

1. Allah has forgiven the calf idol worship - Qur’an 2:52
“Then We forgave you after that so perhaps you would be grateful.” (Qur’an 2:52)

2. Allah has not forgiven the calf idol worship - Qur’an 2:63, 7:152
“Indeed, those who took the calf [for worship] will obtain anger from their Lord and humiliation in the life of this world, and thus do We recompense the inventors [of falsehood].” (Qur’an 7:152). See also Qur’an 2:63.
The idol worshipers were terrorized by Allah, because the Mount Sinai was raised above the idol worshiping people.

3. Conclusion
There is a difficulty in the Qur’an about the question that the calf idol worship has been forgiven. One verse is telling us that Allah has forgiven the calf idol worship, while according to another verse, the people were not forgiven. Therefore the verses are a contradiction in the Qur’an.
